Fat Burning Furnace

Use this secret technique to trick your body to burn more fat

Faster Weight Loss Atkins Or South Beach

Written By: admin - Apr• 29•12

There's a big reason why some people don't follow a regular cardio routine. It's not fun!

Even if you are super motivated to slim down, you most likely wont stick to any cardio routine if it is not enjoyable and you fear doing it. A weight loss lifting program is exciting, varied, and will have you seeing more impressive results than cardio exclusively. In addition to that, there's a huge number of other benefits to be had from starting a weight lifting routine.

One great reason to start a weightlifting program is that it raises your metabolic rate. The faster your metabolic rate, the more calories your body will burn while resting. That's right, even when you are not working out your body is burning calories. Resistance training will also help you build lean muscle mass which, besides making you look great, burns more calories than fat.

A solid weight loss lifting program will also give you more energy, improved posture, and put you in an improved mood. These great benefits are often overlooked. If you have more energy and are feeling great about yourself, it is more likely that you will maintain your training. This all leads to more motivation and faster results and progress.

In addition to doing your daily cardio routines, why not try something new? A weight loss lifting program will enhance your mood, increase your energy, boost your metabolic rate, and have you feeling great and looking better than ever. Give it a try and I think you'll be amazed at how amazing you'll look and feel.

•Did you exercise while on the diet?
•Would you follow this diet plan again?

    • ANSWER:
I did both Atkins and Weight Watchers. Atkins has a couple phases, and the first one is the hardest. You can only eat sugar free things, can't have like any carbs. Lots of meat and cheese and veggies. Hard if you like noodles, bread, etc. The only good thing is, you start to see results right away. But you can start to feel sluggish and it doesn't "work" right away (switching off carbs is supposed to make your body switch into a fat-burning mode instead of burning the carbs away for energy). I went off it after a couple weeks cause it was too hard for me.
Weight Watchers worked well too. Saw results right away, but it's hard when some of your favorite foods are high in points, especially when you don't have a lot of points to be able to have each day.

    • ANSWER:
I tried Atkins Diet for 16 days. I choose it because you lose weight the quickest on low carb diets. (even though most weight is water weight) I choose it because it puts you in ketosis (a state where you burn stored fat for energy). The pros of this diet are 1) The protein keeps you full 2) You lose weight fast The cons 1) Your foods are limited 2) Not much fiber so you get constipated. I'm not sure how much weight i lost (i didnt weight myself). But i did lose inches. Atkins has good tasting bars so thats nice, but they are expensive. If you stick to the diet you maintain the weight, but once you stop you gain it back (sometimes more). This is because the body is used to having so little carbs and it starts storing then not knowing when it will get them again. Also eating carbs causes water weight. I don't think the diet is safe for the long run. Maybe for a short term quick fix for a special occasion. I say this because the diet is high in fats. It's known to cause health problems in the long run. A good diet is one that focuses on healthy balanced meals (everything in moderation). And counting calories, measuring portions, eating mini meals through out the day. I didn't exercise on Atkins. I can say this though. Before Atkins I started calorie counting for the first time in my life and it worked wonders. I would eat 1,200 calories a day (the recommended amount for most weight loss, no lower) and would exercise 30-80 minutes most days. (say power walking, bike rides, jogging). I'd eat whatever i wanted. Just had to stay within my calories. Didn't watch fat, calories, carbs...just sodium. Sodium bloats and causes water retention (you don't want the scale to fool you with water weight). I would always drink 8 cups of water a day or more. This worked greatly. I lost 20 pounds in 6 months. It would have been faster if i didn't have so many cheat days. If you hit a plateu (which i'm sure you will) don't fear. Just mix up your exercise routine a little bit. You can also shock your body with a cheat day once a week. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week. I recommend Weight Watchers if i had to choose a diet. Many people i know do it and lose weight easily.

  3. QUESTION:
    HELP!!!!! weight loss!!!!?
HELP!! right now im not where i want to be weight wise, im not very over weight but could stand to loss like 30. so i want to loose weight as fast a it can be i need to know which of these diets would be best for what im looking for, the zone, south beach, atkins or weight watchers?? except just keep in mind anything i do is on my own , im not going to group meetings or anything.
    or slim fast.

    • ANSWER:
      Where to begin?

      1) Pick a new number. Better yet, don't pick any number at all. There are plenty of athletes that would be considered obese if you saw how much they weighed. But are they? Nope--they are pure muscle.

      2) Fast is not going to be the right way to lose weight. If you want to see results, remember to go sllllllowly.

      3) Weight Watchers is one of the best, but you also need to focus on your lifestyle change. It's not just about adjusting some meals and exercising your butt off for a few weeks. This is change.

    • ANSWER:
Why did you initially choose this diet?
Because my husband was doing it and I wanted to keep him company.
•What is the basic premise of this diet/eating plan?
That carbohydrates break down into simple sugars, spurring your body to release more insulin. The extra insulin then causes cravings for more carbohydrates. Cutting out the junk carbohydrates spurs your system to burn fat instead.
      http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F04E2D61F3EF934A35754C0A9649C8B63&sec=health

•What were two positive aspects of the diet?
After the first two days when I really felt yucky I suddenly had so much energy it was amazing. I'd jump out of bed early and was cheerful about it. Also, I never had to be hungry. Having some fat in your diet reduces the feelings of hunger.

•Were there any downsides to the diet plan? Explain.
Eating over at other people's homes is a major hassle. They'll serve pasta or pizza and it's awkward. I'd always have to explain about the diet and offer to bring a dish.

•Did you have success on this diet? I did! I lost 11% of my body weight and felt terrific.

•Are you still on the diet plan?
I'm in maintenance because I reached my goal.

•Have you maintained your weight loss?
      Yes, for three years now.

•Do you feel the diet is safe? Why or why not?
Every diet has risks because a lot of people don't do their own research, take shortcuts, and don't consult a doctor. I read the book, spent time at forums like lowcarber.org, and had my blood work done regularly by my doctor. My cholesterol went way down on this diet.

•Did you exercise while on the diet?
Not at first. But I was so encouraged by how easily and quickly the weight was coming off that I did start to work out about halfway to my goal weight.

•Would you follow this diet plan again?
I hope not to have to follow it strictly ever again. I just stay mindful of how many carbohydrates I'm consuming and if my clothes get snug, I cut back on bread, pasta, rice, and anything with lots of sugar.

  8. QUESTION:
Will I lose weight this way?
I have decided to stop dieting . .. it gets very frustrating to be honest. So no more atkins, fasting, south beach and all that. I just want to live life like a normal person.

I was thinking that maybe I should just reduce my calories only, i.e. reduce the amount of food I eat - amount and portions. Coupled with that will be exercise - jogging in the morning and evening, burning a total of 400 calories daily. Ana playing nintendo wii for 2 hours a day - the sports one / the wii fit.

I spend the rest of the day reading usually or watching TV, I go out for the usual stuff but will probably leave the house a lot more for walks, days out etc.

Do you think I will lose weight this way?
I am using a website to count calories and monitor what I eat daily. My goals are to reduce fat to almost nothing, little dairy (I don't eat much fat or dairy anyway), the only junk food I ever have is ice - cream or lollies and with the heat, I was thinking of replacing this with home made lollies from freshly squeezed fruit juice.
I want to start with 1200 calories in the 1st week, then reduce them slightly if I don't see any weight loss. I don't plan to starve myself, but will be eating / choosing low calorie but bulky foods like cauliflower, celery, broccoli - veg . . . etc

Do you think I will lose weight if I do that? I don't want to do any diet that will tell me not to have meat or tell me not to have carbs or something. I am sick of restrictions. I just want to eat normal food i.e. cereal, a slice of toast, egg, sausage for breakfast with fruit juice- maybe salad for lunch with a fruit or two and a normal meal for dinner i.e. plenty of veg which I eat anyway + meat.
So will reducing calories and jogging twice daily amongst other things help?
I am 5'2 and weight 154 lbs, I want to lose 50 lbs by christmas do think it will work? I ask because my body is strange and normally struggle losing weight without starving myself. please help

    • ANSWER:
I know you said you don't want to hear about this but maybe something in it will help. I'm betting your problem has been to few calories because 1200 probably doesn't even cover your basic needs, no less added exercise.

The body does not follow logical mathematical equations. Metabolism is controlled by nutrition. You can't eat 800 calories in vegetables & fruit, your body will treat it as being starved (which it is, starved of nutrition) and will shut down your metabolism as if you're eating nothing, but will store every possible ounce as fat. Inversely, you wont gain weight on 6000 calories of fat & protein (if fat is 65% of calories) because insulin (the fat storage hormone) is never activated.

Your body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs and increase exercise. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food. I would suggest you dramatically increase, more than double your food intake. It will take your body awhile to access the fat stores depending how long you've been in starvation mode, but you shouldn't gain weight, other than water weight and the lean tissue your body has had to strip to access nutrition.

You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

If you starve yourself by lowering calories lower than are needed for the body to function, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn't get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn't slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

Simple carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge omelets for breakfast, with bacon, a lil onion, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.

High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Once you get near your goal, you start adding 5 carbs every 3 days til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.) As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn't gain weight. Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.

Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a "diet" Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Lutz "Life without Bread" & Taubes "Good calorie, bad calorie" are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths.

Reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass will have you in awesome shape in no time. Good luck!

  9. QUESTION:

    Diets:Atkins Diet
    Weight Watchers
    Slim·Fast Optima Diet

    South Beach Diet

    here are the questions:
Why did you initially choose this diet?
What is the basic premise of this diet/eating plan?
What were two positive aspects of the diet?
Were there any downsides to the diet plan? Explain.
Did you have success on this diet?

Have you maintained your weight loss?
Do you feel the diet is safe? Why or why not?
Did you exercise while on the diet?
Would you follow this diet plan again?

    • ANSWER:
Boy, talk about spamming a site, Riley!! lol

Anyways, I was on the Slim-Fast Optima Diet.

      1. I chose it because of the reputation and popularity of the Slim-Fast name

      2. You eat 4-5 small meals a day, incorporating their products into your meal. ie. Milk shake for breakfast, snack bar before lunch, milk shake for lunch..

      3. I DID lose weight with this diet, and the products are tasty.

      4. Downsides, first and foremost, are the cost of their supplies/food items. Unless I could find a coupon, or a sale at Meijer, I was spending at least - extra a week on just Slim Fast stuff.
I was also STILL hungry after my meals. Trying to maintain a routine diet of there products was tough when all I could have for breakfast was a milkshake and fruit.
The snack bars increase "regularity", so I was heading to the bathroom more often than prior to the start of the diet.

      5. Success overall came in the form of losing 20 lbs. in 4 months. I feel, though, that it was too much for me to lose that quickly. I have since put it back on.

      6. I went off the diet plan right before my girlfriend and I broke up. She had talked me into going on this diet with her, and once I was at my desired weight, I stopped.

      7. No, I have not maintained my weight loss, but I don't put that solely on the fact that I quit the diet. The before mentioned breakup tore me up, and put me into a state of depression, so that was a big factor as to my weight coming back. I just didn't care what I ate in those months.

      8. Safe? Overall, I think it is, but should I go back on it, I would omit all the products save for the milkshakes. I didn't like the frequent bathroom trips throughout the day, so I think replacing those snack bars with another nutritional food would suffice.

      9. I did indeed exercise while on this diet. We had that Nintendo Wii, and frequently used the Wii Fit on a daily basis.

      10. I think I would get back on it, but again, sticking strictly with the shakes, and nothing else, and replacing the other recommended supplements with various nutritional snack. (raisins, almonds, etc)

    • ANSWER:
I will help. I did Slim-fast optima, but to help gain and maintain my weight not lose it, so I'm not sure if this will help your or not.

      1) Doctor recommended this in addition to my normal diet to add weight.

      2) A balance of lean proteins, complex carbs and a healthy fat profile to help you feel full longer. Basically I had to eat my normal meals and snacks and these meals as well.

      3) The food was alright and I did gain a few pounds

      4) The food and activity tracker. It was a real pain to keep track of what I was eating and how the progress was going. Just stepping on a scale every and not keeping track would have been easier.

      5)Yes, I gained 10 lbs.

6)No, I got tired of stuffing myself

      7) I maintained my weight gain

      8) I suppose it would be for losing weight, for gaining it I don't think so. I felt way too full and sluggish all the time.

      9) No, unless you count chasing kids and cleaning all day, I never exercise.

      10) If I really felt that I needed to or if I needed to lose weight then yes I would.

    • ANSWER:
      YES -Atkins Diet (FAILED)
      YES -Weight Watchers (FAILED)
      NO -Slim·Fast Optima Diet
      NO -Sugar Busters
      NO -South Beach Diet

YES - Calorie Restricted Diet (FAILED)
YES - Whole Plant Based Diet (THE WINNER)

      NOTE:
The only diet that worked for me was a diet called a low-fat whole plant based diet that has been endorsed by Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. John McDougall, and Professor T. Colin Campbell. Read any of these outstanding biochemists and nutrition experts for details. If you read Gina Kolata's book "Rethinking Thin" you will learn that over the long-term, none of the commercially popular diets worked for most people. People, even those who are highly motivated, cannot stay on these diets because they are temporary and cannot be sustained.

I will answer the following questions with regard to a Whole Plant Based diet as described by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr.

1.Why did you initially choose this diet?
At a dinner party, a distinguish retired physician pulled me aside and expressed concern for my health because of my excess weight. As an active triathelete, he had instant credibility. He recommended that I read Dr. Dean Ornish. I started the diet, the next day. Since that day, I moved through the authors I listed above who recommend essentially the same diet.

2.What is the basic premise of this diet/eating plan?

Avoid food like substances that are over processed. Avoid excess sugar, fat/oil, salt, caffeine, alcohol, refined carbohydrates, MSG, aspartame, drugs, food contaminants, food additives, dairy, eggs, and all other forms of animal protein. Instead eat the following foods:

+ Leafy greens - Kale, Collards - High in iron, calcium, and protein.
+ Legumes - Peas, Beans, Lentils - Bean sprouts are delicious and nutritious
+ Whole Grains - Brown Rice, Buckwheat, and non-gluten whole grains (not instant and overprocessed)
+ Colorful Vegetables - Steamed and raw
      + Vitamin B12 and D as needed
+ Ground Flax Seed for Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids (avoid all other fats and oils)
+ Drink pure well water avoiding municipal water supplies treated with chlorine and fluoride

      3. What were two positive aspects of the diet?

+ This is a lifestyle change and the motivation to stay on the diet is built in. It's how good you feel.
      + No calorie counting
      + No feeling of deprivation
+ Prevention and reversal of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. (Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr.)
+ Blood work is automatically moved toward health

4.Were there any downsides to the diet plan? Explain.

It requires that you learn how to cook and not use some common ingredients. Eating out can be a problem, but you can find ethnic restaurants that serve healthier foods.

5.Did you have success on this diet?

Yes. I lost 90 pounds, regained my sense of smell, no longer have sinus infections, and have perfect blood work.

6.Are you still on the diet plan?

It's my new lifestyle, not a temporary diet.

7.Have you maintained your weight loss?

Yes. I am now moving on to portion control. I plan to eat just two meals per day. A big breakfast and an afternoon meal.

8.Do you feel the diet is safe? Why or why not?

It is absolutely the safest and healthiest way to eat. The authors and experts I cited above are independent of food industry interests. The diet is optimal for everyone, skinny or fat.

9.Did you exercise while on the diet?

I exercise aerobically five times per week for an hour at a time. I bicycle to work every day.

10.Would you follow this diet plan again?

It's the only diet for me. If you diet for a temporary period of time, you can be assured that the weight will rebound. You must make the diet a lifestyle choice.

  17. QUESTION:
Have you been on any of these diets?
    Atkins Diet
    Weight Watchers

    • ANSWER:
I did Atkins. Here are the answers

1 I watched infomercials and was convinced it was a good diet.
2 The basic premise is to eat high protein and low to no carbs to lose weight.
3 You will initially lose a lot of weight and you can eat all the meat and cheese you want.
4 The diet dehydrates you so you don't really lose much fat mostly water. And when you stop following the plan you gain back the weight and then some and no matter what you do you can't stop the weight gain. It comes on faster than it comes off. I lost 25 lbs in 3 weeks. Nothing the next 2 weeks, and stopped the plan and gained 40 lbs in 2 weeks.
      5 no real success.
      6 No
      7 No
8 No it is not safe. High protein can cause many illnesses. The diet is not at all nutritious or balanced. It will also destroy your metabolism for a very long time after you stop.
      9 Yes
      10 Never

    * Do you feel the diet is safe? Why or why not?
    * Did you exercise while on the diet?
    * Would you follow this diet plan again?

    • ANSWER:
      I did the Atkins diet.

I chose this because I've heard from family that initial weight loss in the first month comes off very fast, and no calorie-counting was required, only carbs.

The basic premise is you eat 20 carbohydrates a day for 2 weeks to get you into ketosis. You slowly add in more carbs to your meals during the next three stages of the diet to figure out how many carbs you can eat per day without gaining weight.

Some positive aspects are you can still eat things like cheese and red meat without worrying. Also it keeps your appetite very low, allowing me to go long periods of time without even thinking of food.

The downsides are that practically everything in the grocery store and restaurants contains carbohydrates. It's very isolating to not be able to eat simple things like pitas, pasta and even things with BBQ sauce on them.

I am still on the diet plan and I have lost 17 pounds since Feb. 1st. I went from being 150 pounds to 133, and I am 5'2" tall.

I have not gained any weight or plateaued while on this diet plan.

At first I felt the diet was unsafe, while my first week of eating low-carb I was going into a state of ketosis which caused me nausea, vomiting, extreme energy loss and sleeplessness. I didn't have the energy to even raise my arms above my head. After all my glycogen stores in my liver were used up, my body switched to burning stored fat for energy and I felt much better. I now feel the diet is safe if you can get past the initial stage.

I did not exercise at all while on this diet.

I would not follow this plan again because I don't believe it is sustainable to stop eating pastas and breads for the rest of your life. Also, weight loss on the Atkins diet is like a Devil's bargain, you will lose a lot of weight if you stay on it, but once you cheat you will gain everything back plus extra.

      1. I heard it was the fastest
      2. carbs are bad and eating a strict amount of carbs makes your body use it's fat (ketosis)
      3. fast and dont have to worry about calories as much

•Would you follow this diet plan again?

    • ANSWER:
      I did/am currently doing Weight Watchers :)
      1) I initially chose this diet because I had been trying to lose weight for a good period of time. Being young, I was told that I would be able to lose it quickly. So, I began to eat healthier and started to lose weight. But, I was losing weight at a turtle's pace. I felt that losing weight TOO slowly wasn't good either. I lost 5 pounds in a few months. I wanted to lose weight a bit more effectively and learn more about nutrition. I didn't understand at first why I wasn't losing the desired amount of weight. Then, I heard about the South Beach diet and decided I was going to do it. I began reading about it and thought it was too extreme and that if I began eating sugar like crazy again I could get a heart attack. Being 13 at the time, that really scared me! So, I heard about weight watchers and opted to try it out as it seemed more reasonable and less extreme. Also, I had heard many success stories which motivated me to try it.
      2) The basic premise is to eat everything in moderation. You are given a certain set of values called "points". Each food has a different value of points so you decide what to eat throughout the day so you reach your daily value. I could eat up to 31 points per day. So, if I ate an apple, which has a value of one point, I would be left with 30. 1 point is approximately 50 calories and 0.5g of fat. The higher in fibre the food is and the lower the fat, the less points. So a slice of bread can have 70 calories and 4g of fibre and 0.5g of fat, which would give it a value of 1, as opposed a mini chocolate bar which can have 0g of fibre and 4g of fat, making it worth 2 points. The more fat, the more points. It is a simple way of counting calories and encouraging fibre and decreasing fat. You are also given an additional 35 points per week. So, if you have a wedding during the weekend, you can use those 35 points-no more- plus your daily value and lose weight. Some people choose to distribute those points so they can eat a bit more throughtout the week and some choose to leave it for the weekends when they go out. And you can switch it up every week.
      3) -You can eat a bit of everything in moderation so you don't feel deprieved of your favourite food which means there is a smaller tendency to binge afterwards. It doesn't feel like a diet, but a healthier approach to eating
      - You learn how to make healthier choices. And you learn that some foods that seemed healthy may not be that good. Also, you make the decision on what to eat. It's not picked for you so when you lose the weight you are more likely to keep it off then if someone simply tells you what to eat.
      4) You become obsessed with points and food. You keep thinking about what to eat and just because you have extra points, you feel that you should eat even though you are not hungry. Also, some people choose to eat chocolate or sweets everyday because they can fit it into their daily value of points, which isn't a good idea.
5)Yes, I have currently lose 15 pounds and am aiming for my last 20 :)
      6) So far yes. I lose 15 pounds, maintained for a few months and now started again a few weeks ago :)
7)Yes, because no major food group is cut out and it is pretty reasonable. Anyone can do if they set their mind to it. Also, it isn't extreme. The amount you eat is reasonable and you don't feel hungry because you can eat more as long you make healthier choices.
      8) For some parts, yes and for some parts no.
      9) Of course, I'm doing it again now :)

By the way is not for me I need you to answer the questions for my Personal Fitness class thnaks!

    • ANSWER:
I have tried ALL of those diets! Yes, they will most likely "work" (with short term results) if you can stick to them. And I couldn't. I was setting myself up for failure EVERY time, and was gaining weight, starving myself, getting depressed, and the diets aren't even healthy! I will NOT try these again. They are a waste of time! I know people say this all the time, but if you really want to lose weight, it's not going to be as easy as simply buying a box of slim fast drinks! No! It is actual work! Ok! And for one thing, if you lose any weight on these diets, you will most likely gain it back, AND MORE!

So this is what I do to lose weight!

      Meals:

The best way to eat is 5-6 small meals a day, or eating every three hours. The purpose of this is to REV UP your metabolism, so your just burn calories! It's also healthier than gorging at three meals a day. Plus, it curbs your appetite so you don't over eat, or binge! And never eat under 1500 calories! That's UNHEALTHY! Try to lean towards 1700-2000 calories a day! And have a cheat day! So you don't go crazy from dieting! Plus, try eating smoothies for one of your meals! A healthy one, with just fruit, yogurt, juice, and ice! This is good because they are better for digestion, plus they are healthy AND you can add protein powder to them! Which is GREAT for after an exercise!

      Exercise:

My work out routine is very simple. I walk/jog thirty minutes a day (Or three miles) NO less! Then if you want, try lifting weights, sit-ups or crunches, squats and lunges! Building muscle will BURN calories, even when you are just laying around! So, when you get back into shape, you can get into harder work outs, and basically eat what ever you want without worry!
Plus, REMEMBER, protein smoothies! They help since they are essential to muscle repair, and muscle only grows when it is repairing and at rest! So never workout more than 5 times a week. OR you will WEAR yourself out, and you have to have time for your muscles to rest!

Hope this helps, stay healthy, and be patient! Good things come to those who wait! And losing weight healthily can take up to 2 months for your satisfied results, so don't feel discouraged, and you may build muscle on the way that will way more than fat! But, remember, even if you start to weigh more you are burning tons of calories!

    :D

    • ANSWER:
      I'm on Weight Watchers.

      1. I chose this diet because it appears to be the most sensible to me. You can eat real food and it encourages variety. In its basic form, it is calorie control, which I still consider the most basic way to lose weight - take in less calories - or more to the point, use more than you eat. I have also had success with this program in the past.

      2. Every food has a point value, based on its calories, fat and fibre. Your daily points allowance is based on things like your weight, height, age, etc.

      3. Two positive aspects of the diet: a) No food purchases required; b) No food is disallowed - you eat what you want, within your points.

      4. The downside I foresee is maybe having to count my points forever! Once you reach your goal weight, you are still supposed to count points to maintain your weight.

      5. Eight weeks in, I have had great success. Still going!

      6. Yes, I am still on the plan.

      7. I've maintained my losing weight status! I have quite a ways to go.

      8. I do indeed feel the diet is safe. I am eating better than I ever did and am not cutting out any aspect of a healthy diet.

      9. I haven't started exercising yet. One thing at a time. I do realize that in order to continue getting healthier, exercise will have to enter the equation at some point. Soon.

      10. Would I follow this again? Well, I hope not to have to again! But yes, if the weight creeps on (once it is lost!), I would use this program again.

      I hope that helps!

  34. QUESTION:
i am currently on michael thurmond 6week body makeover. i hate it! what's a better diet for me to be on?
    PLEASE NO MEAN COMMENTS. PLEASE.
I am 18 and i was always like 130-139 weight. then my life got shaken up. then my doctor was trying different anti-depressant pills, and like anti anxiety pills on me to see what worked. the side ffectson most of the onesi tried was weight gain. i started gaining more and more extremely fast. i actually gained about 60 lbs. it wasn't gradual at all. it was probably in a matter of 3-4 months. it was awful. now i am trying to lose the weight. i started the 6 week body makeover, and it is so restrictive. every day for every meal it's always the same. i have been making dinners out of the recipe book, but they are so awful. my dad thinks it is way to restrictive for someone as young as me. like no dairy. he is suggesting south beach or atkins. i dont know what to do. what drew me to 6 week was the 30lbs loss in 6 weeks. i need something likethat cause i am so tired of being overweight, but i need something not so bland. more exciting. i need help! what diet do you reccomend and why? thank you so much.

    • ANSWER:
I am doing the same program and I completly agree that it is very restictive. But I promise you that it DOES work, my mother first got the program last year and due to some health problems was only able to do it for 2 or 3 weeks. She did lose about 15lbs and that was with no exercise beucase of her health. She has started on it again but modifing it some beucase of the restrictivness of it. She will have her salad with her meal but instead of the vinager or plain they suggest she will use 1 capful of light dressing, she will put a tbl spoon of bbq sause on her chicken. She lost 5 pounds in the last week. We are also going to Curves 3 times a week. I am just starting the 6week body makeover program and honeslty dont think I will be able to do it for the full 6 weeks, but I hope to do it for at least 3 and then modify it so that I can handel it they way that my mother did.
I would try to stick with it if I were you or at least stick to the basic outline (small meals more often HEALTHY foods, no sugar-splenda is awsome- cut your sodium intake in half or more, I have to have my coffee and I cant drink it black but I have switched from 3 creams to two milks, things like that) and I would also say find a buddy who can diet/workout with you. Its a great way to keep motivated and when you get in a rut you have someone to help pick you up. -Its a lifestyle change and no matter what you have to be willing to conform and change and be dedicated!

    3. What were two positive aspects of the diet?
    4. Were there any downsides to the diet plan? Explain.

    8. Do you feel the diet is safe? Why or why not?
    9. Did you exercise while on the diet?
    10. Would you follow this diet plan again?

    • ANSWER:
I have done Weight Watchers, which really is not a "diet" but a Lifestyle Change.

      1) I initially chose Weight Watchers because I had tried losing weight on my own without success. I have heard many positive things about Weight Watchers so I decided to try it myself.

      2) Weight Watchers teaches you portion control and proves that you don't have to sacrifice what you like in order to be healthy and lose weight. It follows the healthy guidelines. It promotes both eating healthy and moving more. Weight Watchers is easy to follow and you have leadership and weekly meetings that offer advice, encouragement, motivation, accountability which is key.

      3) You aren't restricted to eating only certain things, therefore you don't deprive yourself and eventually binge. Group support and accountability is a major part of the program.

      4) The biggest downside is the cost. The good thing is that if your finances don't allow you to continue you can keep it up on your own with all the information you have obtained from the program. It is easy to start back up at any time, you are not bound by any contracts.

      5) My husband and I have both had success with Weight Watchers. It may not work for everyone but it definitely worked for us and I highly recommend that if you are dealing with weight issues then you give it a try.

      6) We stopped attending a few weeks ago due to finances but we are continuing to follow the program. We plan to join again once finances allow.

      7) We have both lost weight consistently. Neither of us are at our goal weights so we are still in the process of losing weight and becoming healthier people. Most weeks we lose but there have been times we have lost very little, none, and even gained a little. That will happen with any healthy lifestyle change. It is a process.

      8) I feel this program is safe. I am not a Doctor so I can not say 100% but I do know that my own Doctor had recommended this in the past. You do not take any supplements with this program aside from multivitamins/vitamin supplements if you need them. It follows the healthy eating guidelines so if you follow the program you will get your fruits, veggies, whole grains, dairy, healthy oils, water, etc... that you need.

      9) I did exercise on this program. Eating healthy and exercising or moving more work hand in hand with weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. I started very small in the beginning. I would walk when I could, parked further from the door at stores, took stairs when possible, etc...

      10) I will definitely continue to follow this program.
